Through the Life Skills Coordinator, information is available about affordable health insurance, community health clinics, prevention health information, alcohol and drug services, and focus groups.
Life Enhancement Classes — Want to learn more about, your rights as a youth in foster care, creating your identify and protecting your character, and daily living skills (i.e. cooking, managing your money, survival skills)? Ansell Casey Life Skills Assessment — Youth are assessed through the Ansell-Casey Assessment, which is used as a tool for measuring and to build upon the youth’s strengths and identify areas that need more attention.
Youth and Civic Engagement Opportunities — To make sure young adults maintain a balanced-life (spiritually, emotionally/mentally, recreationally/physically), the resource center offers social events/activities, support groups, and community service projects on a monthly basis. MOM Project — Youth Connections is partnering with Family & Children Services offer a six-week parenting series for foster young ladies (ages 16-21) that are either pregnant or currently have a child (ren) under the age of 1year old, which will address depression, anxiety, positive parenting and discipline, time management and support during pregnancy.
